Colour Dash a bright idea to help hos­pice

En­trants in 5km run to be pelted with bags of paint

MICHAEL So­bell Hos­pice Colour Dash is set to brighten up Uxbridge.

En­trants will be cov­ered in coloured paint dur­ing the run on Sun­day, Septem­ber 27, be­gin­ning at noon.

The event, a fun-filled walk, run or dance around a 5km route, will take place at Hilling­don House Farm Sports Ground, in Uxbridge.

En­trants will wear white and be pelted with a dif­fer­ent colour at var­i­ous colour sta­tions along the course of the route.

By the time they reach the end, the run­ners will be cov­ered head to toe with a rain­bow of colours.

Spec­ta­tors will be able to buy bags of colour to throw at the run­ners in spe­cific lo­ca­tions dur­ing the run.

Di­rec­tor of in­come gen­er­a­tion at Michael So­bell Hos­pice, Me­lanie Bur­fitt, said: “We hope that all the lo­cal com­mu­nity will get in­volved in this ex­cit­ing and colour­ful event, which will raise much needed funds to help peo­ple with life-lim­it­ing ill­nesses.”

There will be a ‘sum­mer sign-up spe­cial” price for reg­is­tra­tion of £12.50 through­out Au­gust. From Tues­day, Septem­ber 1, the reg­is­tra­tion fee will be £20 for adults and £12.50 for 11 to 17 year-olds and stu­dents.

The reg­is­tra­tion fee in­cludes a white T-shirt and sun­glasses.

Michael So­bell House is a hos­pice and spe­cial­ist pal­lia­tive care cen­tre at Mount Ver­non Hos­pi­tal, North­wood, which cares for pa­tients with life­lim­it­ing ill­nesses.
