JOUST HAVING FUN AT FAIR
CROWDS flocked to Ruislip and stepped back in time to the Middle Ages. Hillingdon Council’s Medfest 2015 was a roaring success with spectators being able to watch, taste and take part in medieval culture at Manor Farm.
The event on Sunday August 16 featured an authentic programme of medieval entertainments, from horseback jousting to living history reenactments provided by professional re-enactors.
The Great Barn at the farm in Pinn Way was full of arts and traditional craft activities with additional food, a farmer’s market and artisan stalls from the regular Duck Pond Market.
The fields of Manor Farm came to life with armoured knights battling and medieval music and dancing.
And no medievalthemed event would be complete without a hog roast, which proved popular, and of course a set of stocks, which were enjoyed by all ages.
The festival was free for all and will be back again next year.
