Local business donates to food bank
AN UXBRIDGE business has donated £10,000 to Hillingdon Foodbank so it can continue to help families in poverty.
Escorted tours specialist, Collette, which is based at Brook Business Centre, has been helping the community by offering its employees four hours per month of volunteer time.
And the charitable arm SUPERMARKET chain Asda wants to grant a £1,000 wish to a deserving community group, charity or organisation.
The new store in Millington Road, Hayes, is asking shoppers to nominate worthy causes of the company, the Collette Foundation, partnered with the Hillingdon Foodbank for 2015.
Patricia Grady, Collette Foundation ambassador, said: “We were delighted to donate £10,000 to the foodbank.
“Our mission is to give back to the vulnerable populations in the local community, especially children, both here in the UK and around the world to those areas that have brought us in the area which are in need of a financial boost.
Store manager, Lee Randall, will judge the entries and is urging the local community to nominate worthy winners by sending 100 words saying how they would so much enjoyment on our tours.”
The foodbank, run by the Trussell Trust, has given food supplies to more than 35,504 adults and children in Hillingdon community (as of June this year).
It provides short term and emergency help to families and individuals in difficult times, through a referral system.
