Traffic grinds to halt as water main bursts
Nearby water supplies also affected by incident
A BURST water main on a busy Uxbridge road caused traffic delays and problems with nearby water supplies at the weekend.
James Carson, who carries out deliveries across the borough, spotted the leak on Saturday at around 1pm.
He said: “The whole of Park Road was shut between St Andrew’s entrance and St Andrew’s roundabout.
“There was a lot of traffic in both directions as the carriageway is quite badly damaged.”
Affinity Water warned customers in the UB8 and UB10 postcodes to expect problems with their water supply after the incident.
It dispatched a repair team and released a statement via the media to ask customers in the affected area not to use any electrical appliances that require a water supply, like washing machines or dishwashers, and to conserve water from storage tanks.
The company added: “We are sorry for the inconvenience caused.”
