School shines at fundrais­ers

Two can­cer char­i­ties ben­e­fit from events

STAFF and par­ents at an Uxbridge school helped not one but two good causes last week.

On Fri­day, Septem­ber 25, Pield Heath House School hosted a Cof­fee Morn­ing for Macmil­lan Can­cer Sup­port in con­junc­tion with Brunel Univer­sity with cakes, cof­fee and a raf­fle.

The fol­low­ing day, 12 mem­bers of the school com­mu­nity joined in the Shine Night Walk to raise money for Can­cer Re­search UK and suc­cess­fully com­pleted the half marathon in un­der five hours.

Eryl D’Souza, as­so­ciate head teacher at the school in Pield Heath Road, said: “We were de­lighted to be sup­port­ing two such worth­while char­i­ties this week­end.

“We hope that our ef­forts not only raise lots of money but also shows how much our stu­dents and com­mu­nity ap­pre­ci­ate the value of help­ing oth­ers.”

Pield Heath House is a school for chil­dren and teenagers aged seven to 19 with mod­er­ate to se­vere com­plex learn­ing needs.
