Weed burnt in blaze at flat
POLICE are investigating after a cannabis factory hidden in an Uxbridge flat went up in flames at the weekend.
Firefighters spent two hours tackling the blaze in Cowley Road on Saturday afternoon.
A spokesman for London Fire Brigade said: “The fire was at a shop with flats above it.
“A small area of the ground floor shop and half of a four-roomed flat on the first floor was damaged by fire.”
Crews from Hillingdon, Ruislip and Heathrow attended the incident.
The Metropolitan Police, who were called shortly after the fire brigade, confirmed a cannabis factory had been discovered at the property and Cowley Road was closed as a precaution.
A spokesman said: “All cannabis plants and cultivation equipment have been removed from the property.”
Hillingdon CID is investigating and there had been no arrests at the time of going to press.
