Bird­house in your mall

and kids were left feel­ing chirpy af­ter 15 gi­ant bird­houses landed at intu Uxbridge.

The mall in Uxbridge town cen­tre was host­ing The Big Bird­house Tour from Septem­ber to early Oc­to­ber as part of a na­tion­wide link-up be­tween the cen­tre’s own­ers and the RSPB char­ity.

Each house was de­signed by a celebrity, in­clud­ing Jo Whi­ley (fun & fur), one with hand­painted birds by Vic Reeves, earth, wind and fire from Kon­nie Huq, a swim­ming pool from Becky Adling­ton and shark fever from wildlife pre­sen­ter Steve Back­shall.

intu Uxbridge man­agers also vis­ited lo­cal schools in­clud­ing Harefeld In­fant School, Iver Heath Ju­nior School, White­hall In­fant School, Yead­ing In­fants and Nurs­ery and Her­mitage Pri­mary School to take part in their as­sem­blies, giv­ing stu­dents an insight to both the Bird­houses and the RSPB.

Classes of chil­dren from Glebe Pri­mary School and St Mary’s Catholic Pri­mary School visit intu Uxbridge for a guided tour.

The cen­tre’s as­sis­tant mar­ket­ing man­ager, Lisa Trodd, said: “The RSPB do fan­tas­tic work and we saw the Bird­house Tour as a great way of get­ting chil­dren of all ages into na­ture.
