Birdhouse in your mall

and kids were left feeling chirpy after 15 giant birdhouses landed at intu Uxbridge.
The mall in Uxbridge town centre was hosting The Big Birdhouse Tour from September to early October as part of a nationwide link-up between the centre’s owners and the RSPB charity.
Each house was designed by a celebrity, including Jo Whiley (fun & fur), one with handpainted birds by Vic Reeves, earth, wind and fire from Konnie Huq, a swimming pool from Becky Adlington and shark fever from wildlife presenter Steve Backshall.
intu Uxbridge managers also visited local schools including Harefeld Infant School, Iver Heath Junior School, Whitehall Infant School, Yeading Infants and Nursery and Hermitage Primary School to take part in their assemblies, giving students an insight to both the Birdhouses and the RSPB.
Classes of children from Glebe Primary School and St Mary’s Catholic Primary School visit intu Uxbridge for a guided tour.
The centre’s assistant marketing manager, Lisa Trodd, said: “The RSPB do fantastic work and we saw the Birdhouse Tour as a great way of getting children of all ages into nature.
