Puzzle and riddles – no problem
CHILDREN at Whitehall Infant School in Uxbridge, spent a day doing some practical problem solving last week.
The day was organised by maths co-ordinator Kate Reade and run by The Happy Puzzle Company.
Ms Reade said: “Maths isn’t just about numbers and it is great to have the opportunity to look at maths in a different context.
“The children learnt important skills about not giving up and working together to solve some tricky puzzles.”
The Happy Puzzle Company runs challenge days in which presenters offer a challenging selection of puzzles and games for children.
Pupils at Whitehall in Cowley Road encountered a team of Learning Superheroes who help to develop the children’s mindset. These included Concentrate Connor, Curious Christina and Improving Imogen.
One pupil said: We didn’t know how to do the tree puzzle but then we worked it out together.”
Headteacher Manjit Bringan said: “It is important to bring the curriculum to life by investing in enrichment activities that can deliver lessons in a different and memorable way.”
