Harefield Gazette - - NEWS -

A CHAIN of five academy schools for children with special needs has held its first joint sports day in Hillingdon.

The Eden Academy is a Multi Academy Trust (MAT) which comprises five local schools: Grangewood, Moorcroft, Alexandra, RNIB Sunshine House and the recently opened Pentland Field.

It held its first joint sports day at Hillingdon Athletics Stadium earlier this month to cheers of delight from the staff and pupils.

The day could not have been brighter or the atmosphere happier with all the children taking part in a range of activities and races including hurdles, throwing and running.

John Ayres, the principal of the Eden Academy, said: “The Sports Day was a fantastic event where children and staff from all five schools were able to come together to participate in a whole range of sporting activities.

“Every child received a well deserved gold medal – they were all winners.”

The Eden Academy is the largest special school MAT in the country. The young people range in age from three to 19 years old.
