Bor­ough is fly­ing the flag again for qual­ity parks

HILLING­DON Coun­cil is rais­ing an­other six Green Flags in the bor­ough in recog­ni­tion of the qual­ity of its parks and open spa­ces.

The bor­ough now has 34 Green Flags adding to its rep­u­ta­tion as one of the green­est bor­oughs in the coun­try.

Green Flag awards are the high­est mark of qual­ity for parks and open spa­ces.

On Oc­to­ber 8 Hilling­don mayor Ge­orge Cooper and his wife, may­oress Ju­dith Cooper, at­tended the flag-rais­ing cer­e­mony for Knights Gar­dens in Hayes End, Ele­phant Park in Hilling­don and Shen­ley Park in Ruis­lip Manor. A pre­vi­ous cer­e­mony was held for War­ren Park in Yead­ing, Hither­b­room Open Space in Hayes and The Closes in West Dray­ton on Septem­ber 29.

Cllr Jonathan Bianco, the coun­cil’s cabi­net mem­ber for fi­nance and busi­ness, said: “This is a fan­tas­tic achieve­ment for the bor­ough and high­lights all the hard work and in­put from coun­cil staff and the com­mu­nity and vol­un­teer groups.”
