NORTHWOOD: A quiz night at Rickmansworth Golf Club has raised more than £2,000 for the Paul Strickland Scanner Centre.

The centre based at the Mount Vernon Hospital in Northwood, was established by Dr Paul Strickland in 1985.

To celebrate its 30th anniversary it is fundraising for a new state-of-the-art CT scanner at a cost of over £1 million.

Nineteen teams battled at the quiz on Friday, October 16 and Barclays Bank had pledged to match what was made on the night.

Paul Strickland Scanner Centre provides early diagnosis and monitoring of cancer and life-limiting illnesses. It also undertakes medical research which is helping to improve doctors’ understanding of cancer and cancer treatments. A TIRED looking bridge over Botwell Canal in Hayes has been revitalised after a thorough clean up.

Hillingdon Council carried out the clean as part of its £6m regeneration programme for Hayes town centre which is due to be completed in spring 2017.

The council say the investment will make Hayes more attractive for residents, businesses and visitors.
