Almost all of us are against flytipping

Harefield Gazette - - OPINION - CLLR JANET GARDNER Botwell Ward Councillor London Borough of Hillingdon

SIGHTS like this will become rarer as we head further into autumn and beyond, but shows us what to look forward to next year.

Reader Sarah Betteridge took this photo, which she describes AS Botwell ward’s representatives at Hillingdon Council we are as frustrated as many residents with the litter and flytipping in our area.

Every time we see a black bag on the pavement, piles of abandoned rubbish etc, we report it but as soon as it’s removed more appears.

We cannot fathom the mindset of residents who think its acceptable to just dump their rubbish anywhere.

We tour the whole of the ward at least three times a month picking up all manner of problems and reporting them straight away. as the end of the summer blooms, in her Hayes garden.

If you have a picture to share with readers, email it to steve. bax@trinitymir and we'll use it here.

We also challenge anyone we see dumping rubbish, we sometimes don’t get a polite reply but the rubbish is taken back to where it came from.

We have weekly ward surgeries where dumped rubbish can be reported and often is, and we are able to email the problem to the relevant department then and there.

If you are someone who dumps rubbish in the street, DON’T... show some pride in the area you live, we have regular rubbish collections, and bulky items can be removed if you ring the civic and make arrangements for collection.
