Call to challenge commercial flights
either. If you try and launch a major project without speaking to the people you’ll be relying on to deliver it, it’s never going to end well. Despite my urging, the Mayor will not put a date on the introduction of round the clock services for the residents of Hillingdon, claiming that there is little need.
The Mayor now needs to be completely honest with Londoners about exactly when this service will be delivered and if nothing else, offer some certainty to the capital’s businesses that need to put their own plans in place. COUNCIL leader Ray Puddifoot whips up the powers of Hillingdon Council to challenge the lack of co-operation of the HS2 select committee with this council and takes on flaws and omissions in the third runway Airport Commission’s final report.
But in the same week I am told that the council has neither the expertise or resources to challenge the MOD’s commercial VIP jet business at RAF Northolt which has unleashed up to 12,000 high powered, noisy, polluting jets low flying over Hillingdon’s homes, schools and workplaces.
The council washes its hands of the huge environmental impact of this commercial business because it passively accepts the blanket jurisdiction of the MOD, a jurisdiction that has raised many worrying issues.
I believe that the MOD has not acted within the spirit of laws and regulations related to its purpose, the defence of this country, and the expectations and limitations implicit in its commercial expansion program.
There are also worrying questions about this government ministry’s responsibilities to residents of this borough through its elected representatives.
Equally there are questions concerning the disinterested response of Hillingdon Council.
This council does have powers and should allocate the resources to challenge the commercial operations of the MOD in this borough with the same urgency and commitment as those relating to HS2 and the third runway. ready to help. It is a pleasure to go there, I have recommended it to all my friends and neighbours.
I cannot praise the Garden Centre and staff high enough. We go every week and also have a meal there which is also first class. Many thanks for reading this letter.
