Ma­chete at­tack

A WEST Dray­ton man has been charged af­ter al­legedly at­tack­ing a man with a ma­chete in Bournemouth.

52-year-old Robert Palmer ap­peared at Bournemouth Mag­is­trates’ Court on Oc­to­ber 29 charged with at­tempted mur­der.

Po­lice were called at 3.20am on Sun­day Oc­to­ber 25 to re­ports of a se­ri­ous as­sault at an ad­dress on Beau­fort Road, Bournemouth.

A Dorset Po­lice spokes­woman said: “A man in his 40s suf­fered se­ri­ous neck in­juries af­ter he was al­legedly at­tacked with a ma­chete and was taken to hospi­tal for treat­ment. His in­juries are not life threat­en­ing.”

Dorset po­lice ar­rested Palmer on sus­pi­cion of at­tempted mur­der in the early hours of Oc­to­ber 25. Af­ter ap­pear­ing at Bournemouth Mag­is­trates’ Court, he was re­manded into cus­tody and will next ap­pear at Winch­ester Crown Court on Novem­ber 2.

A 50-year-old woman, from Bournemouth, was also ar­rested on Oc­to­ber 28 in con­nec­tion with the at­tack and has been re­leased on po­lice bail un­til the be­gin­ning of Jan­uary.
