Boars keep momentum HOCKEY

Harefield Gazette - - SPORT -

EASTCOTE remain two points clear at the top of the MBBO Regional Division One as they seek promotion to the South League.

The Boars kept up their momentum with a convincing 4-1 victory over Wallingford on Saturday to remain in pole position.

Wallingford opened the scoring against the run of play but the Boars were not worried as two first half goals from Will Alderton and Mark Allison got them ahead.

And further goals from David Cooper and Alex Coyle confirmed the three points would be going home to Eastcote.

Meanwhile, Eastcote’s second XI, also playing in this league after promotion, grabbed their first win of the campaign with a 2-1 win over PHC Chiswick. Goals from Ben StaffordNayer and Kern Sorzano got the job done.

It was a frustrating day for the ladies team as they let a 2-0 lead slip to draw 2-2 with Henley in South Division 3A. Goals from Claire Devereaux and Catherine Ashton had put them in control.

Sunday saw two Eastcote teams in England Hockey Cup action with the over-50s beating Old Loughtonians in a Trophy second round clash thanks to Steve Copland, Gavin Stones and Raj Bhadresa.

However, it was not so good for the Ladies Masters team who lost 3-1 in Jersey with a Meg Williams consolation not enough.
