Eastcote’s derby boost

Harefield Gazette - - SPORT -

EASTCOTE picked up some derby bragging rights and remained two points clear at the top of MBBO Regional Division One in the process.

The Boars edged out Old Merchant Taylors’ 3-2 to stay ahead of Ashford at the summit.

It looked easy for the home side when James Berger opened the scoring and a Kevin Haigh goal saw them open a comfortable half-time lead. Haigh, returning from a four-week injury break, made it 3-0 and with 20 minutes remaining and they survived a late OMT fightback to grab the points.

The club’s second string had a narrow 2-1 loss at Wycombe, Kern Sorzano netting a consolation, while the over 60s progressed in the EH Cup, beating St Albans 3-1.

Eastcote Ladies suffered their first loss in four games as they went down 3-0 at Henley.
