Faith groups wel­come visi­tors to in­crease un­der­stand­ing

FAITH groups in Hilling­don are open­ing their doors for a week of events un­til Novem­ber 29.

Na­tional Inter Faith week also aims to raise recog­ni­tion of dif­fer­ent com­mu­ni­ties through­out the UK, to cel­e­brate con­tri­bu­tions made to the wider so­ci­ety and to in­crease bet­ter un­der­stand­ing be­tween peo­ple of re­li­gious and non-re­li­gious be­liefs.

There will be a va­ri­ety of ac­tiv­i­ties tak­ing place and faith lead­ers will wel­come visi­tors to their places of wor­ships.

Swake­leys school will also be in­volved as it holds its termly in­ter­faith work­shops.

The school will dis­cuss present is­sues and will be joined by stu­dents of dif­fer­ent back­grounds from across the bor­ough.

Cab­i­net mem­ber for com­mu­nity, commerce and re­gen­er­a­tion, Cllr Dou­glas Mills, said: “This is a chance to open up faith ac­tiv­ity to a wider au­di­ence and also high­light the good work that is be­ing done to bring to­gether peo­ple from dif­fer­ent back­grounds across the bor­ough.”
