Author has festive treat for bear fans

Harefield Gazette - - NEWS -

AUTHOR Fran Clark is to launch her new children’s book, about a toy bear who comes to life when no one is around, in Uxbridge.

Brett Bear and the Sad Santa is the fifth instalment in a series, and copies will be on sale from a stall at the Pavillions Shopping Centre, in Uxbridge, on Wednesday, December 2.

The book tells the story of how Brett Bear helps Santa to find children’s missing presents.

Fran, who lives in Brentford, caught the writing bug after studying for a master’s degree in creative writing at Brunel University.

She hopes to have a novel published next year under a pen name and has ghost written romantic novels in recent years.

She said: “The books have very subtle ways of teaching right from wrong in the way they interact with other people.

“There are lessons to be learned in how Brett interacts with other toys.”

Fran’s co-author on the Brett Bear books is Gurpreet Sihat and the pair plan to write 10 in total.

The illustrations are hand drawn and painted by a member of Fran’s family, giving them ‘a nice, oldfashioned feel’, say the authors.

Brett Bear and the Sad Santa will be available for sale at the market with the special offer of two for £13.
