N-ice way to wel­come Christ­mas

CHRIST­MAS will feel right around the cor­ner as the fes­tive ice rink out­side Uxbridge Civic Cen­tre re­turns.

The at­trac­tion will be open from Satur­day un­til Jan­uary 3, but will be closed on Christ­mas Day.

Or­gan­is­ers say there will be themed nights ev­ery Thurs­day from 5pm which will in­clude 80s v 90s on De­cem­ber 3, Film Hits on De­cem­ber 10, a Frozen film theme for the whole fam­ily on De­cem­ber 17 and the Christ­mas Cracker on Christ­mas Eve.

Hilling­don Coun­cil has frozen not only the rink but also the prices, which will re­main the same for the fifth con­sec­u­tive year.

Cllr Dou­glas Mills, cab­i­net mem­ber for com­mu­nity, commerce and re­gen­er­a­tion, said: “In Jan­uary this year, there was a record num­ber of peo­ple en­joy­ing the Uxbridge ice rink. It’s a great way of bring­ing the fam­ily and friends to­gether dur­ing the fes­tive sea­son.”

Open­ing hours for the rink are 10am to 8pm, but clos­ing at 6pm on Box­ing Day and New Year’s Eve, and open­ing be­tween 11am and 6pm on New Year’s Day.

Tick­ets cost £7 for adults and £5.50 for chil­dren and con­ces­sions dur­ing peak hours. Dur­ing off-peak hours adult tick­ets are £5 and £3.50 for chil­dren and con­ces­sions. Uni­formed groups will re­ceive a 20 per cent dis­count when group booked.
