Act now to save attractive spaces

Harefield Gazette - - OPINION - FRANK RHODES Hillman Close Uxbridge

IT was most disturbing to read in your edition of November 11th that HS2 plans were to seriously impact on the Site of Special Scientific Interest at Frays Meadows, Uxbridge.

I am also very disturbed that HS2 plans, which are not well publicised, will probably also result in the closure of Ruislip Golf Course, Uxbridge Golf Course (Harefield Place) and the Council Outdoor Activities Centre in Harvil Road, Harefield, amongst other facilities.

These valuable and attractive facilities must be protected by all means possible for the use of future generations. HS2 would bring no advantages to Hillingdon and few if any for the nation.

The Council should be lobbied to continue its efforts to protect our valuable amenities and to represent this point of view with every means at its disposal.

Action now is essential or it will be too late.
