Want to be Thai-ed to this Staffie?

Harefield Gazette - - NEWS -

WITH Christmas fast approaching we at the Hillingdon clinic are preparing for an increase in unwanted and abandoned pets.

This pre-Christmas off load often relates to new furnishings that an older smelly pet no longer fits in with. We have been told in the past that pets hairs show up on our new suite.

We never turn away an animal in need and this extra work load takes its toll on our finances.

Our 2015 Christmas appeal has been launched featuring one of the many puppy farm dogs discarded as of no further financial use.

This heart breaking trade in tiny lives is fueled by us the purchasers and we ask everyone buying a pet commercially to question where it was bred and demand to see both parents.

We earnestly ask everyone to consider carefully if they have the time, facilities and finances to responsibly own a pet.

Yearly costs of owning a pet are vaccinations £30; flea and worm treatment £ 102 - £170; insurance between £240 - £720; food between £300 - £1,000.

This is just an average guide – you will also be looking at extra cost such as accessories (beds, toys, training programs, poo bags, grooming salons etc) this does not take into consideration vet costs.

Thai is a delightful young Staffie, with a huge zest for life. She loves her walks and behaves nicely on a harness, which overcomes the strong lead pulling.

She has lived with children, but boisterous play could unintentionally bowl small ones over, so we would prefer a home with older children only.

A secure garden is a must, as she does have a history of scaling high fences.

Being a very friendly and rather nosy type, Thai gets on great with other dogs, bold cats and horses.

Although she has lived with another dog, we think she would appreciate being an only dog, so she can enjoy ALL the fuss and attention – she really does deserve it.

Thai is just one happy, happy dog who wants a fun active life and a sofa to crash on at the end of a busy day! Can you help?

If you think you can offer one of our animals a loving home then please ring RSPCA Hillingdon Branch on 01895 833417 or visit our website www. rspcahillingdonclinic.org. uk to download an application form.

We’re also looking for volunteers to help in our shops and to deliver our Christmas appeal leaflets. Please contact us if you can help.
