A FORCE of more than 70 children and their families took part in a sponsored walk at Lake Farm Country Park for Children in Need.

The event, on November 13, started at 8am, with staff from neighbouring Lake Farm Academy school, in Botwell Road, Hayes, also taking part.

The event was the idea of school principal Craig Horsman, who was keen to get the children involved in fundraising.

He decided to abandon previous thoughts of a cake sale and to do something much healthier by taking everybody on an early morning walk across the wide open spaces of the Country Park which sits at the back door of the school.

David Brough, chairman of Hayes Town Partnership said: “I was delighted to join the walk and to see the fantastic response from all concerned. Fortunately the sun shone and the rain did not come until well after the children were safely back for the start of the school day.”
