Charges over Heathrow protest
THREE people have been charged in connection with a protest at Heathrow Airport that caused gridlock.
Esme Woldren, 22, of Walmer Crescent, Brighton; William Pettifer, 26, of Mill Lane, Radford; and, Alastair Cannell, 26, of no fixed address, have been charged with unlawfully blocking a tunnel contrary to the Heathrow bylaws, on Thursday November 26.
The trio were bailed to appear at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court on Monday December 21.
During the early morning rush hour, on Thursday (November 26) anti-expansion group Plane Stupid parked a vehicle across both lanes of the entrance tunnel and locked their bodies to it, unfurling a banner quoting David Cameron’s election promise: “No Ifs, No Buts: No Third Runway”. Two other people have been bailed to return to a west London police station pending further enquiries.
