Melodies fundraiser is music to hospitals’ ears
SINGING group The Melodics performed a concert in Hayes to raise money for leukaemia sufferers.
The group entertained members of the Nashville Ladies Club at St Nicholas Church Hall on November 24.
For the past 13 years they have been raising money for people with leukaemia after one of their members lost a two-year-old daughter to the illness.
The singers have performed 164 concerts and shows across Middlesex and £13,000 so far.
Money has been sent to Great Ormond Street, Hillingdon Childhood Cancer Support Group, Birmingham Hospital and, in recent years, to Hillingdon Hospital’s Peter Pan Ward.
Ann Gaines, pianist and organiser at the group, thanked the singers for volunteering their time and the AP Taylor Trust Fund for donating money to cover the costs of printing programmes and purchasing music.
