ROUND-UP

First teamers prevail HOCKEY

Harefield Gazette - - SPORT -

TABLE-topping Eastcote took in-house bragging rights over the club’s second team in league action on Saturday.

Kevin Haigh and Sam Forster each scored a brace for the leaders but the seconds battled bravely in defeat and remain just above the relegation zone.

Haigh and Forster were soon on target and a rout looked possible when David Cooper made it 3-0, but an Andy Innes effort got the seconds on the scoreboard before the break.

The firsts resumed command after the interval with Haigh and Forster completing their respective braces before Ian Sadler added number six.

To their credit the seconds kept fighting and Ali Cochrane’s late double made the final score respectable.

Each side has one more game this Saturday before the Christmas break with the firsts entertaining PHC Chiswick and the seconds making the trip to Ashford.

Meanwhile, Catherine Ashton’s secondhalf leveller was only enough for a 1-1 draw for the ladies team at home to previously pointless Wallingford.
