HILLING­DON Slip­stream­ers chair­woman Alison Grant has been awarded with the Bri­tish Em­pire Medal in the New Year’s hon­ours list.

The Slip­stream­ers chief has been recog­nised for her ser­vices to cy­cling and fol­lows on from the Points of Light award from the Prime Min­is­ter in the sum­mer of 2014.

Grant joined the Hilling­don club in 2000 and has helped build the team into one of the largest of its kind in the coun­try.

Par­tic­i­pa­tion in the sport con­tin­ues to grow on the back of the Lon­don 2012 Olympics and Slip­stream­ers now boasts more than 300 mem­bers af­ter start­ing up with 20 in 1998.

Sir Bradley Wig­gins CBE and Bri­tish women’s cross coun­try moun­tain bike cham­pion Jenny Cop­nall re­main club vice pres­i­dents.
