A night with the stars

HILLING­DON res­i­dents are be­ing of­fered a night out with the stars – those of the as­tro­log­i­cal va­ri­ety.

West of Lon­don As­tro­nom­i­cal So­ci­ety is hold­ing a free stargaz­ing event at Ruis­lip Lido on Fri­day, Satur­day and Sun­day from 5pm un­til 7pm, weather per­mit­ting.

Vis­i­tors will be able to gaze at the moon, the Seven Sis­ters, the Orion Neb­ula, and other won­ders of the night sky through tele­scopes brought along by mem­bers of the so­ci­ety.

Mem­bers will also try to an­swer any ques­tions about as­tron­omy and space.

A spokesman said: “It is a fun event for all the fam­ily and there is no charge.

“There is a café and toi­lets on the site which will be open, cour­tesy of Rusilip Lido Rail­way.”

The site is ac­cessed from the end of Reser­voir Road HA4 7TY, via the gate ad­ja­cent to the free car park and is served by the H13 bus.

Make sure you dress warmly and take a torch.
