THE bright colours and busy sounds of Istanbul provided inspiration for students from ACS Hillingdon International School.

Twelve young people from the school in Vine Lane, Hillingdon, made the trip to the Turkish capital to take part in a three day drama festival to learn more about theatre and performance techniques.

It was run by international theatre organisation ISTA with pupils from across the world joining in.

Istanbul’s historical Grand Bazaar marketplace also provided students with a chance to learn more about Turkish culture and gain inspiration for their final workshop performance.

ACS Hillingdon drama teacher Alyssa Ballard, said: “The festival gave students a wonderful opportunity to explore the possibilities of bringing sights, smells, colours and sounds of the environment to life.

“The students had a great time gaining confidence and developing their skills, and learning more about Turkey from their host families.”
