Sharks kick off in style

Harefield Gazette - - SPORT -

HAREFIELD Sharks kicked off 2016 in style as they claimed four top three finishes at the Wild Water Race at Barrow-on-Soar, in Leicestershire.

Joel Gunnery and Conor Sheehan both stepped up to make their Wild Water Racing debuts for the U14s.

Gunnery claimed second place finishing in 17:49, while Sheehan completed the race in 18:36 to earn third spot.

At last month’s Barrow race, Adam Stewart took first place but was beaten by fellow Sharks team-mate Grant Underwood this time out. Underwood finished with a time of 12:52 to win the event, leaving Stewart to settle for second place.

Sharks coach Neal Underwood said: “It is always great to get new people racing, and even better when they do so well, this success is a tribute to all our coaching staff who did a fantastic job in 2015.”

The Sharks will be returning to Barrow-on-Soar for another race on February 13.
