Teen in court charged with stab­bing death

A BOY aged 16 has ap­peared at the Old Bai­ley charged with the mur­der of a man in Rosedale Park in Hayes.

The youth, who can­not be named for le­gal rea­sons, pre­vi­ously ap­peared at Wim­ble­don Youth Court on Fe­bru­ary 2 ac­cused of the mur­der of Har­jit Singh Du­lai and for pos­ses­sion of an of­fen­sive weapon.

He spoke only to con­firm his name at the Old Bai­ley and will be re­turn­ing to the court to en­ter a plea on April 21.

Har­jit, 44, died in hos­pi­tal on Wed­nes­day Jan­uary 27 shortly af­ter be­ing stabbed by the ten­nis courts in Rosedale Park, off Al­bion Road.

So far, six peo­ple have been ar­rested on sus­pi­cion of mur­der as part of the in­ves­ti­ga­tion.

Four men, aged 20, 29, 28, and 39, have been bailed to re­turn to a po­lice sta­tion on a date in late Fe­bru­ary pend­ing fur­ther en­quiries.

A fifth man, aged 39, has been re­leased with no fur­ther ac­tion.

A post-mortem ex­am­i­na­tion on Jan­uary 29 gave the cause of death as a stab wound.

The 16-year-old de­fen­dant was ar­rested on Sun­day Jan­uary 31 and sub­se­quently charged with the mur­der.
