Hun­dreds on the road to Finch­ley

SIX HUN­DRED run­ners hit the streets to take on the old­est 20-mile road race in the UK in Ruis­lip as the 83rd an­nual Finch­ley 20 proved a hit.

Or­gan­ised by Hilling­don Ath­let­ics Club, this his­toric event takes run­ners around four laps of a five-mile route through Ruis­lip and Ick­en­ham, start­ing in Bury Street. Jonathan Poole was the first man across the line, in a time of 1:48:57, while Lucy Ashe of Met­ros took the hon­ours for the ladies in a time of 2:17:04.

First across the line for Hilling­don Ath­let­ics Club, fin­ish­ing sixth over­all, was James Laing in a time of 1:55:08.
