Man dies af­ter fall­ing from bridge over A40

A MAN has died af­ter fall­ing from a bridge over the A40, dur­ing the busy rush hour pe­riod, in Hilling­don.

Lon­don Am­bu­lance Ser­vice (LAS) were called at 6.25pm to re­ports of an in­ci­dent on the A40, at the Long Lane junc­tion of Western Av­enue, on Thurs­day March 17.

An LAS spokesper­son said: “We sent our haz­ardous area re­sponse team, two am­bu­lance crews, an in­ci­dent re­sponse of­fi­cer and Lon­don’s Air Am­bu­lance to the scene.

“Sadly, de­spite the ex­ten­sive ef­forts of our crews, a per­son was pro­nounced dead at the scene by the doc­tor from Lon­don’s Air Am­bu­lance.”

Air Am­bu­lance spokesper­son said: “Our ad­vanced trauma team was dis­patched via rapid re­sponse car, by Lon­don Am­bu­lance Ser­vice, at 18.28 to a fall from height on Long Lane.”

Metropoli­tan Po­lice of­fi­cers also at­tended the scene, af­ter be­ing called min­utes af­ter the am­bu­lance ser­vice.

A spokesper­son said they re­sponded to re­ports that a man had fallen from a bridge on the Western Av­enue (A40), near Long Lane in Hilling­don.

The spokesper­son said: “Of­fi­cers at­tended and found a man with se­ri­ous in­juries.

“Lon­don Am­bu­lance Ser­vice at­tended. Di­ver­sions were in place while emer­gency ser­vices dealt with the in­ci­dent.”
