21 firefighters tackle blaze
FIREFIGHTERS tackled a blaze in a residential area of Uxbridge, with 21 firefighters, all while no-one was home.
London Fire Brigade sent four fire engines, 21 firefighters, and officers to Weald Road, when a neighbour called after hearing the home’s smoke alarm on Thursday, March 17.
Fire crews contained the blaze to a first floor bedroom when they were called just after 9pm and had the fire under control in two hours.
An LFB spokesperson said: “Yet again smoke alarms alerts neighbours who then dial 999.
“Everyone should have at least one smoke alarm on every level of your home and the safest option is to have those linked together.
“This will give the earliest warning if there is a fire in your home.”
The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.
