Men walk away from flipped over bin lorry

A BIN lorry car­ry­ing three men over­turned and burst into flames af­ter col­lid­ing with a kerb in West Drayton.

Three fire en­gines tack­led the blaze on the A408 Stock­ley Road just be­fore 9am on Thurs­day.

The lorry com­pletely blocked the busy road south­bound, and rub­bish bags could be seen strewn across the road and pave­ment.

A Lon­don Fire Brigade (LFB) spokesper­son said: “Fire­fight­ers were called to an over­turned dust­bin lorry on Stock­ley Road in West Drayton.

“Three men inside the lorry were treated at the scene by the Lon­don Am­bu­lance Ser­vice.

Fire­fight­ers from Wem­b­ley and Hilling­don were at the scene and took just an half an hour to put out the flames.

Stock­ley Road was closed with de­lays south­bound at the Hor­ton Road junc­tion with di­ver­sions be­ing put in place.

Metropoli­tan Police were still at the scene un­til 11.30am.

A spokesper­son for the police said: “We were called at 8.46am to Stock­ley Road, near the bridge, to re­ports that a dust cart had col­lided with a kerb and over­turned.”

They con­firmed no one was in­jured in the in­ci­dent.
