Man talked down from bridge
EMERGENCY services have talked down a man from a bridge at the Hayes bypass – the second time a similar incident has occurred at the same location within a week.
Metropolitan Police confirmed they were called at 6.29pm on Sunday April 3 to the Ossie Garvin roundabout to reports of a man threatening to self harm.
A spokesperson for the police said: “Officers, the London Ambulance Service (LAS) and the London Fire Brigade attended and spoke with the man. The man was subsequently taken to hospital for treatment under the Mental Health Act.”
LAS was also called at 6.34pm to an incident at Ossie Garvin roundabout and Uxbridge Road in Hayes.
A spokesperson for LAS said: “We sent an ambulance crew, an incident officer and the hazardous area response team to the scene. We treated one patient who was taken to hospital.”
The Ossie Garvin roundabout connects Uxbridge Road, with A312 The Parkway, which was closed while emergency services dealt with the incident.
Roads were re-opened a couple of hours later, after heavy traffic and tailbacks in the area.
