Man talked down from bridge

EMER­GENCY ser­vices have talked down a man from a bridge at the Hayes by­pass – the sec­ond time a sim­i­lar in­ci­dent has oc­curred at the same lo­ca­tion within a week.

Metropoli­tan Police con­firmed they were called at 6.29pm on Sun­day April 3 to the Ossie Garvin round­about to re­ports of a man threat­en­ing to self harm.

A spokesper­son for the police said: “Of­fi­cers, the Lon­don Am­bu­lance Ser­vice (LAS) and the Lon­don Fire Brigade at­tended and spoke with the man. The man was sub­se­quently taken to hospital for treat­ment un­der the Men­tal Health Act.”

LAS was also called at 6.34pm to an in­ci­dent at Ossie Garvin round­about and Uxbridge Road in Hayes.

A spokesper­son for LAS said: “We sent an am­bu­lance crew, an in­ci­dent of­fi­cer and the haz­ardous area re­sponse team to the scene. We treated one pa­tient who was taken to hospital.”

The Ossie Garvin round­about con­nects Uxbridge Road, with A312 The Park­way, which was closed while emer­gency ser­vices dealt with the in­ci­dent.

Roads were re-opened a cou­ple of hours later, af­ter heavy traf­fic and tail­backs in the area.
