Teddy praises club
COACH Teddy Loveridge saluted his Hillingdon Swimming Club charges after a fine performance at the Tiger Bay Long Course Open Meet in Cardiff.
The swimmers put in consistent displays across the weekend of competition as many booked spots at next month’s London Regional Championships.
Loveridge said: “It was a fantastic weekend of competition with a vast majority of swimmers achieving new personal best times in most of the events they entered.
“Hillingdon achieved an 80 per cent personal best rate at this meet. Congratulations to the swimmers who competed and thanks for all the support Hillingdon received.”
The meet kicked off on the Friday evening with 13-year-old Oliver Latham, the club’s only swimmer in the 1500m freestyle, finishing more than two minutes faster than his entry time.
This achievement was the catalyst for a great meet and Loveridge’s fellow coaches, Gary Mohamed and Matt Williams, were pleased with the positive attitudes, teamwork helping secure some impressive long-course times.
Meanwhile, 37 other swimmers from the Hillingdon Club headed to a short course meet at Potters Bar where they won a total of 16 gold medals.
These went to Orla Treanor, Kayla Van Zyl, Liam Webster, Adam Bennett, Dillon Roglic, Stefania McGowan, Kacper Kaniewski, Madison Colman and Sophia Boni.
Eight silvers were won by Adam Bennett, Madison Colman, Stefania McGowan, Jack Ortiz, Alex Austin.
And 13 bronze medals went to Charlie Wing Yat Lo, Irena Heppard, Hannah Bowley, Adam Bennett, Madison Colman, Helaina Hudson, Orla Treanor, Jack Ortiz, Liam Webster, Stefania McGowan and Kacper Kaniewski.
