Man in court over at­tempted mur­der charge

De­fen­dant also ac­cused of drink driv­ing

A MAN in his 60s has been charged with at­tempted mur­der and drink driv­ing, af­ter re­ports of a woman be­ing struck by a car near an Uxbridge pub.

Po­lice were called to re­ports of a woman be­ing in­jured af­ter be­ing struck by a car in a car park in Old Or­chard Close, Uxbridge, at around 10.30pm on Fri­day April 8.

The in­ci­dent be­lieved to is have hap­pened out­side The Hut pub, which has a beer gar­den and ad­join­ing car park.

Lon­don Am­bu­lance Ser­vice (LAS) con­firmed they were called to re­ports of a ‘road traf­fic col­li­sion in­volv­ing a pedes­trian and a car’ in Old Or­chard Close.

An LAS spokesper­son said: “We sent a num­ber of re­sources, in­clud­ing a med­i­cal team by car from Lon­don’s Air Am­bu­lance and an ad­vanced para­medic.

“We treated a woman for a head in­jury and she was taken as a pri­or­ity to a ma­jor trauma cen­tre, es­corted by the doc­tor from Lon­don’s Air Am­bu­lance.”

Michael Tot­tem, 64, of Collingwood Road, Uxbridge has been charged with the at­tempted mur­der of a woman and drink driv­ing.

He ap­peared in cus­tody at Uxbridge Mag­is­trates’ Court on Mon­day April 11 and was re­manded in cus­tody.

Tot­tem will ap­pear at Isle­worth Crown Court on Mon­day May 9.
