Scouts pa­rade for St Ge­orge

RUISLIP, East­cote and North­wood Dis­trict Scouts cel­e­brated St Ge­orge’s Day with a gath­er­ing in East­cote House Gar­dens.

Led by the Yiewsley and West Dray­ton brass band, the 500 plus Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Ex­plor­ers and Scouters with rel­a­tives and friends fol­low­ing made an im­pres­sive sight as they went through East­cote into the Gar­dens on Sun­day April 24.

MC Peter Small­wood ran some quizzes re­lat­ing to the Queen’s 90th Birth­day, be­fore hand­ing over to dis­trict com­mis­sioner, Stephen Plume who made many pre­sen­ta­tions and awards and re­called those who had re­ceived theirs ear­lier.

Three young peo­ple were ab­sent on the day – Edd Greer, James Laszcz and James Ni­cholas – who were tak­ing part in a spe­cial St Ge­orge’s Day pa­rade at Wind­sor, hav­ing re­ceived their Queen’s Scout Award within the past year.

Many more awards were pre­sented and two pieces by Wil­liam Shakespeare were beau­ti­fully read out which re­flected St Ge­orge and Eng­land, the na­tional an­them was sung and each group re­newed the prom­ise as is usual every year.
