Sympathy for the doctors

Harefield Gazette - - OPINION -

ABOUT twenty five years ago I had the misfortune to suffer a heart attack. I was treated in a totally empathetic and professional manner and using the latest techniques by junior doctors.

In the past month a friend had the same sort of problem and, like me, was treated totally professionally. His treatment from arrival by ambulance to leaving theatre on his way to a ward was achieved in just 19 minutes. Again by junior doctors.

Needless to say the doctors have my total respect. It galls me, therefore, to see the way the current administration led by Jeremy Hunt is daring to treat them with such cavalier disdain and disrespect.

I would encourage all local voters, irrespective of party, to do their utmost to pressure the government to seek a proper way out of the current self inflicted impasse. Mr Hunt needs our advice as he clearly lacks the wit to do it himself. JOHN HUBBERSTEY Villier Street Uxbridge
