Youth centre not suitable at site
THERE is much opposition to having a youth centre situated where proposed in Harefield.
However, there is a similar youth centre, which is state of the art and well attended, in Hallowell Road, Northwood.
The latter road – at the junction with Roy Road – is extremely busy and has cars parked on both sides much of the time!
Also the Hallowell location is an area of many ‘older type smaller houses’.
The Northwood Youth Centre is properly sound insulated and while it is fair to say that I do not live in the precise location, I have never been aware of problems or disturbances associated with the centre which is a very fine and properly run Hillingdon Council facility.
We hear all the time ‘young people need somewhere to go; something to do’.
It is simply an idea, but might it be a useful exercise for the Harefield people to see at firsthand how the Northwood, and perhaps the other Hillingdon youth centres. operate?
I hope that if, in the end, the site presently proposed is rejected a suitable location will be found for a Youth Centre in Harefield.
