Har­ling­ton’s great start

HAR­LING­TON Bowls Club made a pos­i­tive start to the sea­son af­ter beat­ing Houn­slow Con­ser­va­tives in their open­ing out­door mixed friendly match.

The Har­ling­ton bowlers sur­vived a late Houn­slow fight­back in the fi­nal rink, hav­ing com­fort­ably taken the first two, to record a 47-45 over­all vic­tory.

Joan Ful­brook, Brenda Reed and Sheila Cut­more were Har­ling­ton’s top-per­form­ing triple as they paved the way for vic­tory with a 21-16 tri­umph in the first rink of the day.

Har­ling­ton fol­lowed that re­sult with a 50-44 friendly de­feat at Rich­ings Park and picked up a 57-53 win over Cow­ley in their first Chiltern & Thames Val­ley League tie.
