His­lop’s re­marks a low blow to Boris

I AM a devo­tee of the TV pro­gramme ‘Have I Got News For You ?” and its reg­u­lar par­tic­i­pant Ian His­lop.

How­ever, I thought that His­lop’s dis­parag­ing re­marks con­cern­ing Boris John­son in the lat­est pro­gramme were not only cheap and ill con­ceived, but also in­ac­cu­rate and an in­sult to the elec­tors of Uxbridge and South Ruis­lip Con­stituency, who voted for Boris to be their MP.

I know Boris well enough to state that he is in­tel­li­gent and ed­u­cated; you only have to read his pub­li­ca­tions, books etc to re­alise this is the case!

Ian His­lop is clever, witty and gen­er­ally amus­ing but he does him­self no credit to try to be­lit­tle some­one as ac­com­plished and pop­u­lar as Boris John­son for no rea­son other than to ‘knock’ a public fig­ure and ob­tain a tawdry re­ac­tion.

Ken Liv­ing­stone in­creased the Lon­don Pre­cept, which is added to Coun­cil Tax, by more than 150 per cent while he was Mayor of Lon­don, while Boris, on the other hand, and also be­ing a hugely suc­cess­ful Lon­don mayor, ac­tu­ally brought
