United girls too hot for their Tottenham rivals
MAURICIO Pochettino’s men were not the only Spurs side to be humbled on Sunday.
For while Harry Kane and co saw dreams of second place in the Premier League shattered at Newcastle, Tottenham’s U10 girls were busy being beaten 3-0 by Denham United U10 girls in the Hertfordshire League Cup final.
Maddie Perry netted either side of the break before Steph added a late third for Denham, for whom the whole squad shared the player of the match award to reflect a great team performance.
Denham’s U11s, meanwhile, reached the final of the Thatcham Town Tournament, where they lost to Tilehurst, having knocked out the hosts in the quarters thanks to a Maddy Taylor strike, while three saves from keeper Charlotte Gaffney saw them negotiate a semifinal shoot-out.
The club are this Saturday holding trials, from noon to 2pm, for girls in years eight or nine, and live or go to school in Hillingdon, who wish to represent the borough’s five-a-side football team in the London Youth Games (email firstname.lastname@example.org).
Trials to play for the seniors will also take place on Sunday from 2pm to 4pm (lissa90@hotmail. co.uk), while a few place are also left (U14s and U16s only) at the club’s annual summer tournament on May 29 and 30 (email@example.com).
Elsewhere, Heathrow Youth U12s beat Alpha & Omega 4-1. Harvey Brown, Lewis Jones and Samuel Trim scored along with an own goal. Hanit Tavares was man of the match.
