Find your spark at the Restart Party

Harefield Gazette - - OPINION -

HILLINGDON Friends of the Earth has always worked on recycling and the reuse of goods and materials to help save the Earth’s precious resources and reduce waste. There is a fast growing electronics waste stream and we were therefore thrilled to hold our first Restart Party at this year’s Ickenham Festival on Saturday.

Restart Parties are friendly community events where people can bring their small broken electronic or electrical device and learn how to repair it.

It can seem just too complicated to attempt to repair your broken lamp or phone, kettle or computer but with advice from someone with more experience it becomes easy, and fun. Besides saving money and being incredibly satisfying, repair helps the environment by minimising waste.

Everyone is welcome at the parties, whether you want to learn how to repair something or if you have repair skills and would like to help others learn to fix their broken devices.

Restart Parties are really enjoyable, like being in a cafe where everyone is working together, and there will be a few refreshments as well to add to the atmosphere.
