Charged with shop­keeper as­sault

A MAN has ap­peared in court charged with as­sault­ing a shop­keeper in Uxbridge, fol­low­ing a po­lice ap­peal.

John Dono­van from Ruis­lip ap­peared in court on Thurs­day June 9 after be­ing charged with caus­ing griev­ous bod­ily harm (GBH) by po­lice the same day.

The un­named shop­keeper, aged 56, suf­fered head and fa­cial in­juries dur­ing the al­leged at­tack out­side a pa­rade of shops in Moor­field Road, Cow­ley, on Mon­day June 6.

Dono­van, 32, ap­peared at Uxbridge Mag­is­trates’ Court last week after be­ing charged with the at­tack.

He is set to ap­pear at Isle­worth Crown Court on Thurs­day July 7 to an­swer to the charge of caus­ing GBH.

Po­lice were called to re­ports of an as­sault shortly after 8.15pm, and the shop­keeper was taken to a west Lon­don hospi­tal by Lon­don Am­bu­lance Ser­vice for treat­ment for se­ri­ous head and fa­cial in­juries.

The at­tack left a pa­rade of shops in Cow­ley cor­doned off by po­lice.

The shop­keeper re­mained in hospi­tal un­der­go­ing treat­ment for his in­juries more than a week after the in­ci­dent took place.
