Coach blaze causes chaos for motorists
Broken down vehicle led to road being closed
A COACH fire in Ealing on the morning of Wednesday June 22 caused traffic misery for commuters.
London Fire Brigade was called to a blaze at New Broadway, at the junction with Longfield Avenue, shortly before 8am.
Firefighters spent less than 20 minutes at the scene, but the broken down vehicle led to the road being closed eastbound.
There were subsequent heavy traffic delays in the area, along with diversions for bus routes.
Transport for London had said at 9.38am on the Wednesday that eastbound traffic was slow moving and warned drivers to expect delays.
An LFB spokeswoman said: “We were called to the scene at 7.53am and sent one crew.
“The incident was over 8.10am.” at
BBC Travel reported there was congestion on the A4020 Uxbridge Road stretching to Hanwell.
It said diversions were in place for bus routes 83, 207, 427, 607 and E11.
Ealing Police tweeted at 11.27am to say the road had reopened.
