Hospice’s equipment donation

Harefield Gazette - - NEWS -

A HOSPICE in Northwood has been gifted £4,880 for a new piece of equipment that helps patient exercise.

The MOTOmed is a big hit with patients at Michael Sobell Hospice in Mount Vernon Hospital.

Money for the contraption was donated by freemasons from the Provincial Grand Lodge of Middlesex.

Senior physiotherapist at the hospice, Sarah Crickmore, said: “Using the MOTOmed is a simple and effective way to increase physical activity for those individuals unable to participate in common forms of exercise such as walking and can work both upper and lower limbs, to help prevent the loss of muscle power and the physical decline that is commonly seen in palliative care patients.”

Chief executive at the charity, Lindsey Fealey, said: “I’d like to say a very big thank you to the local Freemasons.”
