Lido charge upset

Harefield Gazette - - OPINION -

TODAY I looked in at the entrance of Uxbridge Lido and heard a young mum with several children complain bitterly about having to pay twice to stay all day ie morning and afternoon.

On top of that she had to pay for the car park. Club members are exempt but there is no refund for Lido users. The only purpose of the car park charge is to deter people who are not using the facility. I was disgusted at how she was treated not least because I fought for the pool when it was under threat of demolition. I founded Uxbridge Pool Action Group. The members campaigned to save the pool and carried out maintenance work at their own expense. If Hillingdon Council has withdrawn public subsidy they should at least assure the operator that they will meet any deficit. It is normal for families to spend all day at a Lido but the cost must be reasonable.
