Cy­clist with Sa­mu­rai sword stole cash box

DE­TEC­TIVES are in­ves­ti­gat­ing a cash-in­tran­sit rob­bery in Hayes af­ter a man pos­sess­ing a ‘Sa­mu­rai’ sword was in­volved in the in­ci­dent.

Po­lice were called to a dis­tur­bance on Yead­ing Lane on Wed­nes­day Au­gust 3 just af­ter 8.30am.

A man re­ported to be on an orange bi­cy­cle stole a cash box be­fore es­cap­ing from the scene.

The man was also be­lieved to be in pos­ses­sion of a ‘Sa­mu­rai’ sword.

A heavy po­lice pres­ence was re­ported in the area around the Post Of­fice on Yead­ing Lane in Hayes at around 9am that morn­ing.

Po­lice said there were no re­ported in­juries and the Fly­ing Squad team has been in­formed.

A Metropoli­tan Po­lice spokesper­son said: “Po­lice were called at 8.36am on Wed­nes­day, Au­gust 3, to Yead­ing Lane fol­low­ing re­ports that a male sus­pect on an orange bi­cy­cle and be­lieved to be in pos­ses­sion of a small ‘Sa­mu­rai’ sword stole a cash box be­fore flee­ing the scene.

No ar­rests have been made and po­lice en­quiries con­tinue.
