Warming up to emission zones?

Harefield Gazette - - OPINION -

IT is all to the good that air pollution figures are to be printed at tube stations and at bus stops as highlighted in last week’s Gazette.

All this is a softening-up operation in preparation for Sadiq Khan’s plan for a north/south circular - wide low emission (congestion charge) zone (see map above of proposed area) – another level of taxation for the motorist.

Yet, Heathrow airport is campaigning for a third runway.

Perhaps before this expanded emission zone is a fact, perhaps a statistician might publish a report on how many road vehicle exhausts it takes to equal the pollution caused by one paraffin burning aircraft taking off, flying over the area or landing at Heathrow airport.
